Jana Harper and I made these prints together at Pyramid Atlantic. They started with a childs notebook made by a distant relative of mine in the 1940s. We appropriated the titles of his poems and worked backward from there. The visual language combines our own photographs, appropriated images, and shapes and colors drawn from Japanese cloud forms and Indian miniatures in the Sackler Museum in Washington D.C.. They were made by laying down digital grounds, applying simple printmaking techniques, and finally, working back into them with hand-work; including drawing, stitching, and collage.
